New Year - New Adventure!

January 2025 edition

What better way to kick off 2025 than with a surf retreat filled with adventure, new friendships, and unforgettable memories?

The first Salty Chicas retreat of the year has begun, bringing together an incredible group of women ready to embrace the waves and each other’s company.

This time, we have a unique mix of family and friends. It all started with Chelsea, who planned a getaway with her sister Izzy and best friend Shelby. But soon, her cousin Sisi and her sister Clare decided to join in too!

The retreat became a gathering of girls from across the USA - Hawaii, New Mexico, Texas, and Michigan. Completing the group were Sika from Florida and Fanny from France, bringing their own unique vibes to the adventure!

Saturday: Arrival Day

The first day was all about settling in - taking a shower, resting, and shaking off the jet lag. Once everyone regained their energy, we kicked off the retreat with a cozy welcome dinner at home, featuring traditional Spanish tapas made by Miki and Vicky.

Over a glass of sparkling Spanish cava, we introduced ourselves and got to know one another. A good night’s sleep was essential, as an action-packed week awaited!

Sunday: First Surf, Volcano & Sunset Drinks

Sunday morning started with the first surf lesson, led by the energetic Carmen - a true firecracker from the north of Spain.

The lesson took place at an easy beginner break on the north coast of the island, where the waves rolled in endlessly.

Some chicas were stepping onto a board for the first time, while others were regaining their confidence. No pressure - just endless waves and good vibes.

After surfing, we returned to the villa for a delicious, healthy lunch and a much-needed siesta. In the afternoon, we took a hike up a volcano with Nora and Iga, and had such stunning views!

The volcano hike was followed by sunset drinks at a beach club before heading into town for a delicious Greek dinner. Juicy, mouthwatering, and oh-so-satisfying!

Monday: Surf, Yoga & Game Night

The day began with another surf lesson with Carmen. By now, the chicas were starting to find their balance and ride the waves with more confidence. Endorphins are kicking in!

A hearty lunch at the villa refueled us before a relaxing afternoon siesta.

Later, we had a calming yoga session with Lara, complete with a soothing meditation - perfect for unwinding after a full day of activity.

Dinner was a Mexican feast at home, featuring nachos and fajitas.

The night ended with a hilarious group challenge game. Each chica picked a card and had to complete a fun challenge - dancing, singing, drawing, or even staying silent for a couple of minutes! We laughed until our stomachs hurt!

Tuesday: Surf, Yoga & Bachata Night

After breakfast, we hit the north shore again with Carmen for another surf session. The girls were getting better, their smiles growing with each wave caught.

Lunch was a fresh poke bowl at home, followed by an afternoon yoga session to reset and recharge.

The evening took an exciting turn with a bachata class in town! We danced with locals, learned new moves, and, most importantly, had a blast. After class, we treated ourselves to pornstar martinis before heading home for some well-earned rest.

Wednesday: Surf Photography & Sunset Beach Walk

Wednesday’s surf lesson was extra special - Luisa, our photographer, joined us to capture epic moments in the water. Seeing the chicas in action, catching waves, and having the time of their lives was pure magic!

Lunch at home was followed by a sunset beach walk to the stunning National Dunas Park. Golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and a breathtaking sunset made for the perfect midweek unwind.

With Nora guiding and Iga capturing videos from the week, the memories were well-documented. We even made a human wave, haha! Dinner was homemade pizza, and we called it an early night.

Thursday: Surf Skate & BBQ Night

Our last surf lesson took place in Corralejo city surf break, a calmer spot to get the sunny vibe on and chill waves.

After a lunch of delicious quiche at home, it was time for a fun new activity - surf skating in La Oliva skate park!

Led by Vicky, an absolute machine on a board, the chicas pushed their limits and embraced this exciting challenge.

…and the sunset added the perfect glow to an already amazing day.

Dinner was a classic Argentinian BBQ at home, prepared by Vicky. Juicy meats, fresh fish, and flavorful veggies - every bite was a delight!

Friday: Day Off in Paradise

Friday was a well-deserved rest day spent on the beautiful Lobos Island, just a short 15-minute boat ride away. We explored the charming fisherman village, waded through crystal-clear lagoons, and lounged on a sandy beach. Some chicas went snorkeling, others played beach tennis, and a few simply relaxed with a book. It was the ultimate day of chill.

After returning to Corralejo, we indulged in ice cream and a bit of souvenir shopping before an afternoon yoga session with Lara. Our farewell dinner in town was a mix of burgers, sangria, and (of course) pornstar martinis.

Before saying our goodbyes, we took pictures for the guestbook and wrote heartwarming notes from the chicas. Some even bought Salty merch to take home as a keepsake, to remember their amazing retreat experience!

Saturday: Goodbye (For Now!)

Check-out day came too soon, but as we hugged goodbye, we knew this wasn’t the last time we’d see each other. Bonds were formed, new friendships flourished, and we left with memories that will last a lifetime. Who knows? Maybe the next Salty Chicas adventure will take us to Hawaii! 🌊🏄‍♀️

Final Thoughts

This retreat was more than just surfing - it was about connection, growth, and stepping out of comfort zones. A special thanks to all the chicas who made it unforgettable!
